Payment

Unless otherwise stated, all invoices are due on receipt of invoices and before the vehicle is unloaded at destination. Where applicable RMS will provide a full UK VAT invoice for each job.

RMS reserves the right to charge a 50% booking fee for transport jobs over 300 miles.

RMS reserves the right to ask for full payment up front for transport jobs.

Where a job is cancelled due to no fault of RMS. RMS reserve the right to charge a cancellation fee to cover incurred costs.

Insurance

RMS Holds full freight liability cover for the transport of boats, vessels and associated equipment throughout the UK and EU.

Within the UK transport is carried out under the terms and conditions set out in this document and the RHA (Road Haulage Associaition) conditions.

Within the EU transport is carried out under standard CMR conditions.

We recommend that customers inform their own insurance company about the proposed move prior to transport.

The nature of boat transport takes us to some remote and access limited locations such as boatyards and marinas, some of these are accessed via narrow roads, lanes and tracks where overgrown vegetation, trees etc are not trimmed in line with the minimum height clearances for UK roads (16’6”)(5.03m). Where this occurs RMS will endeavour to avoid any damage to vessels, but transport along such roads, lanes and tracks is carried out entirely at the customers risk and RMS cannot be held responsible for any loss or damage that may occur.

Preparation of vessels

All vessels must be ready for road transport before the time and date of loading, please refer to our preparations guidelines if unsure.

Where RMS are required to prep a vessel for transport we reserve the right to charge an hourly rate of £45/hr + vat.

If a vessel is not pressure washed before transport, RMS reserve the right to charge a cleaning fee for the trailer and associated equipment.

RMS rely on the accurate dimensions of vessels to determine transport costs, this includes weight/displacement, height, beam, draft and length. RMS reserve the right to charge additional fees if the vessel is significantly different to described in dimensions or hull form.

RMS will collect any spare parts, keys and paperwork required where applicable but only if notified in writing prior to loading, RMS cannot be held responsible for any associated boat parts, keys, accessories not included on board the vessel unless prior arrangement has been made.

Unforeseen delays

RMS will endeavour to keep to planned times and dates, but due to road traffic and any other factors. RMS cannot be held responsible for missed tides, crane bookings, ferries etc.

Delivery

Upon delivery, RMS will require the owner or a representative to be present to accept the vessel, and to ensure any outstanding fees and costs are paid before unloading.

RMS will transfer any keys, paperwork etc as required, these may be left with Marina/boatyard staff or hidden on board the vessel.

RMS will endeavour to deliver the vessel in the same condition as collected and any damage should be noted on the day by both driver and representative. RMS cannot be held responsible for any damage found or discovered at a later date.

Loading and Unloading

All loading and unloading is carried out by third parties, and as such RMS hold no responsibility for any damage that occurs from the lifting and loading of your vessel.
